Frequently Asked Questions
What is Ethical Health Care Foundation (EHCF)?
EHCF is a not-for-profit organisation providing an ethical, community-driven alternative to conventional health insurance -- India's first Shariah-based family health takaful.
What is Takaful, and how is it different from insurance?
Takaful (Arabic for “to support one another”) is a Shariah-compliant mutual-support model. Members contribute to a shared fund that helps individuals and families in times of need, rather than paying premiums to a for-profit insurer to transfer risk.
Is EHCF Shariah-compliant?
Yes. EHCF is certified and audited by Taqwaa Advisory & Shariah Investment Solutions (TASIS), whose Shariah board oversees how contributions are handled.
What plans does EHCF offer?
Three plans: EHCF Care (₹1,499/year), EHCF Care+ (₹3,499/year), and MutualCare+ (coming soon). See the “Our Plans” page for full benefits and pricing.
What does EHCF Care+ cover?
12 tele-consultations and 6 in-person consultations a year, medicine and diagnostic discounts, and free monthly home delivery.
What is MutualCare+?
MutualCare+ (formerly the Family Health Benefit Scheme) will offer ₹5 lakh hospitalisation cover per family, 24 tele-consultations and 10 in-person consultations a year, and 24/7 medical counselling. Coming soon.
How do I sign up?
Submit your family's details through our onboarding form and a member of the EHCF team will reach out to discuss your Takaful plan options.
